Mini Player

The Mini Player is a compact, floating version of PXR for those times when you want playback controls to hand but would rather the full window did not hog your screen.

  • Enter or leave it with ⌘⇧M (Display → Enter/Exit Mini Player).

What it shows#

The Mini Player, a compact floating window with a green LCD showing the track title, time, tempo, time signature and port, a seek bar and a row of transport controls, with speaker-cabinet LED meters either side and a level-meter strip across the top.

  • Transport buttons: play/pause, stop, previous, next, shuffle, and repeat.
  • Time display for the current track.
  • A compact visualiser and the current file's format badge.
  • An inline playlist so you can still pick tracks.

All the usual keyboard shortcuts keep working in the Mini Player (Space to play/pause, ⌘→ / ⌘← to change track, and so on), so nothing is lost in the shrinking.

Keep it on top#

Turn on Keep Mini Player Always on Top in Settings → General and the Mini Player stays visible above your other apps. It is ideal when you want to keep an eye on playback while working in another program or off on a second monitor.

Not sure which view to use? See Player Views for a quick comparison of the full window, the Compact Player and the Mini Player.
