Bounce to Audio
Want to take your MIDI music somewhere that does not speak MIDI? Bouncing records the built-in synth's output to a WAV audio file, so you can turn a MIDI file into something you can play anywhere, from your phone to a car stereo.
- Open it from File → Bounce Audio.
- This works with the built-in synth, including any loaded SoundFont, only. It cannot bounce external hardware, because it captures the sound the app itself produces.
Options#
- Source: bounce the current track, or all tracks in the playlist (each to its own file).
- Quality: CD (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) or Studio (48 kHz, 24-bit), both stereo.
- Trim silence: removes quiet sections from the start and end.
- Normalise: raises the overall level so the loudest moment sits just below the maximum, giving consistent loudness across files.
- Mute speakers: stay silent while it renders.
How it works#
- Choose your options, then pick where to save (a file for a single track, or a folder for the whole playlist).
- A progress overlay shows the current track and how far along it is.
- Bouncing happens at playback speed, so a five-minute song takes about five minutes to render. A good moment to put the kettle on.
Note
The Sleep Timer cannot fire during a bounce, so a long render will not be cut short.
