I was surprised to find this morning that Mozilla has released a new 2.0 version of their fantastic web browsing software, however I was even more astonished to find that the new look is quite dull…
Below is a screenshot I have captured of the browser just to show you how bland it looks now in this so called 2.0. Little has changed with the actual controls, but the presentation is bleak at best and really makes you wonder what on earth they were thinking. Seems that because grey never goes out of fashion (mainly because it was never in!), it was the colour of choice:
Mozilla today released Firefoxยฎ 2, a major update to its popular and acclaimed free, open source Web browser. Firefox is developed by an international community of contributors working together under the umbrella of the Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit, public-benefit organization dedicated to improving the Internet experience for people everywhere.
In less than two years, tens of millions of people worldwide have discovered the easier, faster and safer online experience that Firefox provides. Translated into more than 35 languages at its release, Firefox 2 is available in a native language version for more people around the world than any other Web browser.
Firefox 2 is immediately available for Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems as a free download from www.getfirefox.com.
There are some improvements, but first of all you have to get used to this slightly odd design. It is certainly a bizarre step to have taken here, so if you like me are a big fan of this browser software, you might also like me start looking for a new theme to use!

Oh come now, it’s not THAT bad. :P
What irritates me, is the fact that it breaks the Alt+S functionality that works on most forums and other random web software that uses Alt+S for submitting something. Who would actually want to have a keystroke just so they can see their history? :-?
but who keeps the standard skin for long there are loads of skins out there, that is one of the points of firefox
I use Opera. As far as I know it is the only Windows browser that passes the acid2-test.
