Call of Duty 3 Premium Map Pack – Major Problem

cod3.jpgAfter the release of a free map for the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 3, it was nice to hear that today there were already a further 5 maps available at 800 points as a single package to enjoy online:

Five all-new Call of Duty 3 multiplayer maps for online, split-screen, and System Link play! Battle it out in abandoned prison camp in Stalag 23. Engage in epic house-to-house fighting in a rural French village in La Bourgade. Navigate the battered warehouses and naval machinery of an oceanfront shipyard in Ironclad. Launch an all-out assault across a battleground choke point in The Crossing. Take cover in the thick trees and overgrowth of a mountaintop listening post in Wildwood.

Problems arose though when after downloading the maps, they could not be accessed when hosting a game. Apparantly users have found that by deleting the free bonus map they could see the maps available in the options, but could still not load them up to play.

The developers are already looking into the problem and are more than likely going to have to release an auto-update to resolve the issue:

We understand that there are problems with the Valor map pack once it is downloaded – we are working closely with Microsoft on this right now, and we will have the issue resolved as soon as we possibly can. Please hold tight, and I will follow up with an update as soon as we’re closer to a solution.

Thanks

This is a big mistake and is sure to make gamers angry after spending money to download a new set of maps they can’t use. These things will happen though from time to time and at least with Xbox Live the issue can be fixed. After all it is not as though the developers do this on purpose!

My advice is to wait until this issue has been resolved, otherwise you have just spent over ยฃ6 for a download over 800mb in size which you can do nothing with until we get an update. Time to play that free map again!
