Press Coverage:
James,
Once again great podcast. I look forward to it each week.
Wanted to get your thoughts on why none of the major sites/podcasts have been saying that since M$ doesn’t have HDMI support that you can’t really criticize Sony for not having it in the gimped PS3. Two things I am thinking on the matter.
1) M$ has not put anything into there system that hinders performance for not having it. So not really apples to apples.
and
2) When I first bought my Xbox1 I had only a set of RCA cables, however M$ released an “Advanced AV pack” which had S-video and Optical for sound, then later when I finally got my HDTV I purchased the “Hi-Def AV pack” which had the composite video as well as the optical audio port. That said why wouldn’t M$ be able release a HDMI cable for the 360??? Is there something that I am missing regarding HDMI?
Thanks again for the great podcasts. Hope you don’t mind some “Colonial” from Oregon USA listening in!!! lol,
Jason
Hi Jason and of course I am happy for anyone including those across the pond to listen and participate in the debate :)
We are all still unsure whether the Xbox 360 ‘can’ support HDMI as Microsoft have been very careful to keep quiet. This could be for one of two reasons:
1) They don’t want to spoil the surprise of a future cable that will be released for both the core and premium systems.
2) It does not support HDMI and by keeping quiet gives the illusion to people that there might be the possibility of HDMI, therefore not falling into giving more sales to Sony for the extreme video buff.
I think everyone is a little puzzled at the moment by Microsoft as to their lack of disclosure in regards to HDMI, however as you rightly point out Microsoft have done incredibly well in keeping themachine first and foremost a ‘gaming’ console.
Glad you enjoyed the show, I doubt there will be one every week, but I am already discussion future shows with the other participants for more gaming related shows in the very near future.
Excellent – enjoyed part 2. Many thanks and I look forward to future ‘casts. :) I may even contribute some questions… :-?
That is what the voicemail is there for :d
