A continuation of my special Microsoft Xbox 360 Console debate with a few guests including Barrie Rogers from 360Monster.com, Steve Cocklin and Dave Green, both avid Xbox/Xbox 360 gamers and of course myself James Woodcock. After editing the final version it was well over one hour, so instead of one long blogcast, I decided to split into two more manageable shows.

In this second part, we chat about:

  • HD DVD Vs Blu-Ray
  • Multiple disks
  • HDMI and/or DVI Digital Out for Xbox 360? – Source: Spiegel Online
  • The Nintendo Revolution gamble
  • Nintendo DS Vs Sony PSP
  • Gamerscore and Achievements worthwhile?
  • Xbox 360 price drop?
  • Xbox 360 overheating issue
  • Xbox Live Arcade
  • Tomb Raider: Legend
  • Keyboard input device?
  • Final Fantasy Online
  • Console Wars

Part 1 is available here: Blogcast #6 – Xbox 360 Debate Volume 1 Part 1. I hope you all enjoyed the shows and if you wish to leave a comment or question for the next show, make sure you ring UK: –THIS NUMBER IS NO LONGER USED, SORRY– Worldwide: –THIS NUMBER IS NO LONGER USED, SORRY–, leaving your name, Gamertag (if applicable), location and comment/question.

  • I personally agree with the comments made regarding the latest Tomb Raider title, it’s way too short, very repetative and they didn’t get close in reality to reproducing the magic of the original Tomb Raider game after all they forgot the exploration, adventure and the puzzles so the two games other than the lead chatacter have little in common imo.

Also i personally think the gamerscore just makes for even more big heads especially on Xbox LIVE but agree with the general thoughts of the guys that the achievments are a good idea.

  • Just like to say well done on the podcast debate, really enjoyed it. On the subject of watching movies on the consoles, i think sony should look at their own psp if they think that they can get people to choose blu-ray dvd for movies. They thought they would get people to buy the umd system to watch films on the psp but as we have seen that hasn’t turned out well with the film companies abandoning the format already. There is a risk that Blu-ray could suffer the same fate.

  • Well I was listening to another podcast called TWIT ( http://twit.tv/ ) and they mentioned that Warner were releasing all there HD DVD content with a DVD-9 (dual layer DVD) as well, which I and they think is a great move that all HD DVD producers should do.

One of the many advantages with HD DVD with it being so close to the DVD format we already love and enjoy!

  • apparently the players will be backwards compatable as well, unlike the blu ray players!

  • Well, the Blueray players do not really have to go backwards compatible since they have nothing to go backwards to. If you mean backwards to DVD then your correct but that will never happen.

  • It is a problem though, people tend to have a large collection of DVDs, so do they really want 2 players under their HDTV?
